NUISANCE bikers using a field next to a play area are putting children’s lives at risk.
Police are now set to target problem areas in Crosland Moor and hand out notices warning offenders they face losing their bikes and could be prosecuted.
Clr Molly Walton, for the Crosland Moor and Netherton Ward, said: “The bikers were recently spotted on the playing field at the end of Frederick and Ivy Streets where they churned up the grass.
“We have a toddler’s play area, a ball wall and a football field on this site and youngsters could have been seriously injured.”
Pc Jeremy Burkinshaw, of Huddersfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), added: “Our concern is really around those who present a danger to themselves and others by riding in an illegal or anti-social manner.
“Illegal use of off-road motorcycles will not be tolerated and any such vehicles will be seized and the owners reported for document offences.”
Letters have been sent to residents urging them to take registration numbers of troublemakers.
Clr Walton added: “I have to rely on residents to let me know where the problems are as do the police, so please get in touch.”
