A SPECIALIST college in Huddersfield which provides teaching to those outside of formal education has been praised by Ofsted.

Edgerton College has been rated as good in all areas by Ofsted.

The college, which offers education and support to 14 to 16 year old students not in mainstream education, was praised for quality of its education.

The Ofsted report said: “The quality of education is good. The curriculum, with its focus on GCSE and other forms of accreditation, engages students and gives them an incentive to learn.

“They make good progress, gain relevant qualifications and are well prepared for the future. Students enjoy school and their behaviour improves significantly.”

Andrew Czolacz, headteacher, said he was delighted with the outcome. It reflected the hard work and commitment of the staff and students.

Nearly all year 11 pupils at the college left with four or more GCSEs passed.
