A HUDDERSFIELD woman is seeking compensation after a fall in the town centre left her unable to work.

Donna Crowther, 46, suffered bruising and muscle damage to her knees after tripping over a piece of metal sticking out of the pavement in Cloth Hall Street.

Mrs Crowther, of Dalton, also sprained her shoulder in the fall outside the Yorkshire Building Society on August 16.

She says she finds it hard to stand and has been forced to take time off work at Merrie England.

Mrs Crowther says: “I don’t think I’ll be fit to go back to work for a while because I can’t stand for very long.

“It’s ridiculous. There should be someone to report things like this to the council. It’s what we pay tax for.”

A Kirklees Council statement said: “When reports of incidents or problems are made we act on them immediately.

“Any individual claims for compensation will go through the proper processes for such issues.”
