A DEIGHTON man is still critically ill but stable in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary today after being found unconscious in the street.

Detectives are still waiting to interview the 67- year-old man who suffered serious facial injuries on Friday night.

He was found unconscious at the junction of Deighton Road and Glenfield Avenue at 11pm, just minutes after leaving a pub.

Police are still trying to find out how the man, who had been in The Wise Owl at the junction of Leeds Road and Deighton Road, had suffered the injuries.

They have not ruled out that he could have been hit by a car.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw him walking home, talking to anyone, or saw a car in the area at the time, to contact them.
