Innings opens with parish church’s cricket display

A EXHIBITION showing the relationship between cricket and religion was officially opened at Huddersfield Parish Church.

A EXHIBITION showing the relationship between cricket and religion was officially opened at Huddersfield Parish Church.

The display entitled Let Us Play charts the history of sport and faith in Kirklees since 1850.

The display by Huddersfield University Cricket Heritage Project runs until mid-summer.

Guest speakers included Vicar of Huddersfield the Rev Catherine Ogle, Methodist preacher and cricketer Michael Early and magistrate and former local league fast bowler Stanley Inniss MBE.
