An inquest will open today into the tragic death of a Newsome teenager.

A coroner is expected to take brief evidence about the death of 15-year-old Olivia Ruth Glennie who died in hospital on Monday.

She had been taken to hospital six days earlier having been found hanging in a wooded area close to Armitage Bridge Cricket Club.

The inquest, due to be held in Bradford this morning, is expected to be adjourned to allow a funeral to be arranged.

Friends have paid heartfelt tributes to Olivia, who was a student at Newsome High School and Sports College.

Many of them held a vigil at Castle Hill earlier this week, lighting Chinese lanterns and sending them into the night sky.

Olivia lived with her parents and has two sisters, Lucy and Laura.
