WORKERS at HRI’s pathology laboratory have been given high praise by a national assessor.

The team, which analyses more than ¾m patient blood samples a year, were put through a four day inspection by Clinical Pathology Accreditation Ltd, last month.

The inspectors checked how the lab compares with others around the country and metlocal doctors and consultants to record their views.

The HRI team were described as “excellent” and “superb” and a new electronic test ordering system dubbed “revolutionary”.

Pathology services manager Sharon Appleby said: “We were thrilled for our entire staff who work so hard providing a service for patients and doctors.”

The biochemistry labs at Calderdale and Huddersfield receive up to 2,500 blood samples a day and carry out more than 20m tests a year.
