WEST Yorkshire coroner Peter Straker (pictured) is under investigation after a number of complaints were lodged about him.
The Office for Judicial Complaints is carrying out the inquiry but it is understood Dr Straker, Coroner for the Western District of West Yorkshire, will continue in his position while the investigation proceeds.
It is unclear how long this will take.
A spokeswoman for the organisation said: “A number of complaints have been received against Coroner Peter Straker. These are being investigated.”
Dr Straker, who suffers from MS, a disabling neurological condition, became coroner in the summer last year following the retirement of Roger Whitaker who held the position for more than a decade.
He regularly holds inquests in Huddersfield.
No-one from Bradford Council, who were responsible for appointing Dr Straker, was available for comment.
