TEAMS got soaked and fell about for charity at the It’s A Knockout charity contest.

The competition at Standiforth Playing Fields, Dalton, featured 24 teams taking on zany challenges to raise thousands of pounds for Kirkwood Hospice.

It was held to coincide with the hospice’s annual summer fair, featuring numerous stalls and attractions.

The Examiner’s Jousting Journalists were one of the teams taking part, finishing eighth, but the Flaming Cheetahs were the team who slid and splashed to victory.

Kirkwood volunteer Mignon Dunn said: “The response was absolutely fantastic.

“We’ve had the maximum number of teams, but you wouldn’t believe all the preparation that’s gone into this. The effort of the volunteers and all the staff has been absolutely wonderful.”
