THEY have excelled at eco schemes in their own backyard.

Now a number of Huddersfield and Kirklees companies will be making a big presence at one of the North’s biggest environmental fairs.

They will be there to share their expertise with groups from all over the region.

Cummins Turbo Technologies, of Aspley; Marshalls, of Birkby and The Green Building Store, of Golcar, will among the local firms taking part at the Eco-Fair, at Leeds United Football Ground, on May 9.

The annual Eco-Fair, which covers energy saving, waste reduction, greener buildings, environmental regulations and innovations, attracts exhibitors from across the North of England.

It will feature a keynote speech by Climate Change Minister Greg Barker.

Representing Huddersfield, Jennifer Hirst, energy engineer at Cummins Turbo Technologies, will talk about the efforts Cummins have made to monitor their energy use and identify areas for improvement.

Pete Stevens, Group Energy and Carbon Manager for Marshalls landscapers will talk about how the company has reduced its CO2 output and cut its energy costs.

And The Green Building Store will be giving examples of how their water saving products can save businesses money.

Other Kirklees exhibitors include energy saving and renewable energy specialist Environmental Energy Ltd, LED lamp manufacturers Gamma Illumination, electrical contractors and installation specialists Lawton Electrical, furniture recycling experts Over2Hills, and ground source heat pump installer Earthtest Energy.

Clr Peter McBride, Kirklees Cabinet member for investment and regeneration, said: “The Eco-Fair will attract a large number of companies and it is good to see Kirklees businesses taking a very active part in this important event in the business calendar.”
