Companies which have pledged to cut their carbon footprint have been presented with the first Calderdale Council energy awards.

More than 100 delegates attended the first of eight annual Our Energy Future events at Calderdale College, Halifax, this week to share success stories and agree a plan to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2020.

Businesses which received awards were:

Gold awards – Nestlé UK, Interface, Calderdale Council.

Silver awards – Marshalls, Calderdale College, Leo Group, SITA.

Bronze awards – Ploughcroft, Eureka, Eclipse Affinity, Yorkshire Energy Services and Coffee Culture.

Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for economy and environment Clr Barry Collins said: “Year by year, now until 2020 and beyond, this event will happen annually to check on progress and develop new ideas to make Calderdale a greener, more energy-resilient place to work and live.”
