NATIONAL Trust officials are asking people in West Yorkshire to share their favourite walk.

They want to know whether that’s a bracing cliff top hike along the Yorkshire Coast or a Sunday afternoon stroll around your nearest park or garden, or a hike over Marsden Moor.

The Great British Walk is a festival taking place at National Trust places from now until November 4 and means that hundreds of downloadable, guided and self led walks and events are being held.

The National Trust, which looks after Marsden Moor, wants to add to the list of walks to provide a comprehensive guide to the best places to explore locally, sharing why they’re special.

A number of walkers have already begun to upload their favourite walk to the National Trust’s website, with suggestions for alternative routes in the Dales and along the coast as well as urban walks in York and Hull.

Jan Bibby, regional director for the National Trust in Yorkshire, said: “Walking is one of my biggest passions. It’s something I love to do in my spare time, just going out into the countryside and never quite knowing what you might see along the way”.
