JACK Kershaw has been re-appointed as a non-executive director to continue to serve on the Board of The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Dewsbury District Hospital.Š

The former coal miner was also a Wakefield Metropolitan District Councillor for nearly 15 years and lives in Pontefract.

He has been a member of the Trust board since 2002 and previously a non-executive director for the former Wakefield District Health Authority for two years.

Jack will continue to work with chairman Ed Anderson and four other non-executive directors on the Trust’s board, which also includes chief executive Julia Squire and four executive directors.

Non-executive posts are filled by members of the public who are appointed because of their expertise, experience and local knowledge.

Jack said: “It’s exciting times for local healthcare with the first services opening in our new state-of-the-art hospitals at Pontefract and Pinderfields.

“I’m pleased that I will still be part of the board when they both fully open.”

The one-year appointment runs to May 2011, for which he will receive £6,096.
