A FORMER prostitute who murdered her elderly husband after he lied about his wealth was jailed for life today.

Having turned her back on a "strict" religious upbringing to sell sex for £200 a time, Tatjana Edwards, 27, set out to snare the pensioner when he became her client and said he was millionaire.

After a whirlwind romance, she agreed to give up the thousands she made every week for what promised to be a life of even greater luxury.

A few months after moving in with him and declaring her undying love, he whisked her off to the local register office.

But the Estonian-born gold-digger could see little that glittered as the pensioner's pretensions of wealth evaporated with a rented home, hired car and growing financial hardship.

A single thrust with a large kitchen knife on June 11 last year and the 72-year-old lay dying on the kitchen floor.

Edwards, of Chobham Road, Ottershaw, Surrey, insisted she had being trying to commit suicide at the time, and claimed that as her elderly husband fought to disarm her, she "accidentally" stabbed him. The jury convicted her of murder.
