TWO Holmfirth men have each been jailed for six years for robbing a bus driver at knifepoint.

And police welcomed the tough sentence as a warning to others who use terror to steal on Huddersfield's streets.

Dean Visona, 21, of Burnlee, and John Whitehead, 23, of Huddersfield Road, had pleaded guilty to robbery.

Bradford Crown Court was told they had threatened the driver with a knife on Cinderhills Road in Holmfirth last September 7 and stolen his takings.

Pc Dave McSweeney, of Huddersfield police, said: "Robberies are dealt with extremely seriously by the police. They are regarded as a priority crime.

"The length of the sentence shows that the courts treat them with the same level of seriousness."
