He started running when he was just five years old and three years on he is almost a veteran of the Huddersfield Park Run.
The weekly run at 9am every Saturday has become a huge success since it began in 2011 with thousands of people taking part.
Proud dad, Brett, a father-of-three and a motor engineer, said: “He started when he was five and got serious about it 18 months ago. I started running seriously over two years ago and he wanted to join me. I thought he would do one lap but he just kept going.
“He has had to be patient getting to 100 as the icy weather has meant some runs have had to be cancelled but he was delighted when he finally did it on Saturday in a steady time of 27 mins 26 secs. He has run it in 22.41. My best time is 22.14 and at one point he was ahead of me!
“A few other runners completed their hundredths on Saturday but he was the youngest by a long way. The nearest in age to him celebrating their hundredth was a lad who is nearly 14.
“He just seems to enjoy the exercise and is quite sporty, liking football and karate too.”
Jake, a pupil at Helme School, said: “It was really nice to do it, everyone was congratulating me. Probably my next target is to get my personal best down to 20 mins. I had been looking forward to Saturday as the run had to be cancelled recently because of the weather.”
