AN MP has welcomed the launch of high-speed rail consultation.
The £32bn proposal would cut travel time between Leeds and London from two hours 15 minutes to one hour 20 minutes. Consultation on the first phase of the plan, between the capital and Birmingham, was launched this week. Public meetings will be held along the 140-mile initial route between now and July. Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney said yesterday: “High speed rail could make a real difference in West Yorkshire. Investing in high-speed rail is vital to the prosperity of future generations”.
