FESTIVAL-GOERS who missed out on Glastonbury got to enjoy the Jimboree instead.

Home-grown rock talent was on show at the Stocksmoor event on Saturday.

The musical treat at the Clothiers Arms pub in Station Road was organised by friends Will Rogers and James Willoughby.

The 19-year-olds held their first festival in 2001 in a field next to Will's house - and it was called Willfest.

Since then, the growing free events have given unsigned bands the chance to perform on stage for appreciative audiences.

The name was changed to Jimboree in honour of James last year.

Twelve bands took the stage at the weekend, including three featuring Will - Stupid Like You, Anima and Kirklees MCz.

Local groups played alongside bands from as far afield as Leicester.

Landlady Suzi Burgess said crowds of about 200 turned up to enjoy the day.

"There was some rapping, some grunge music and some rock. It was really good," she added.
