A HUDDERSFIELD theatre company has raised £1,500 for two local good causes.

Jimbo Productions has donated £750 each to Netherthong Playgroup and the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary Special Care Baby Unit.

The money was raised through the production of two plays written by Stan Sharp, who is an author and commercial manager for Huddersfield Giants.

The productions were staged at the Lawrence Batley Theatre’s Attic studio by Jimbo Productions in early February.

Sponsorship covered the production costs, so all the money from ticket sales and a raffle could go towards the two good causes.

Jimbo Productions have staged productions for charities before.

James Sykes, of Jimbo Productions, said the latest fundraiser had been a success: “We had a fantastic run and the support we have from the sponsors, the audiences and the theatre has been excellent.”

Mr Sykes started Jimbo Productions eight years ago and is working as director for Huddersfield Thespians on their latest production, Humbleboy, which will be performed at the LBT from April 22 to 26.
