A REPORT reveals Jimmy Savile allegedly abused someone at Dewsbury Hospital.

The revelation was made in a report by Scotland Yard and the NSPCC which reveals allegations of the late DJ’s history of abuse.

One of the alleged offences was committed in 1969 at the Dewsbury hospital.

A further 16 offences were allegedly committed at Leeds General Infirmary from 1965 to 1995, where Savile was a porter.

The Giving Victims a Voice report states there was another alleged case of abuse at St James’s Teaching Hospital, which is also run by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

A spokesman for the trust said it would look into any complaints made to police or the trust about this “extremely distressing subject”.

He said: “In early December, the trust published the terms of reference for its internal investigation into matters relating to Jimmy Savile’s long-standing involvement with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals as a volunteer and fundraiser.

“This will be a thorough and detailed piece of work and will be carried out in conjunction with parallel investigations by the Department of Health and other NHS trusts.

“Work is now under way and we expect our report will be ready towards the end of this year.

“As part of this work, our panel will look at approaches from people who have contacted the trust directly to share information on this extremely distressing subject.

“The panel will also examine in detail any information the police pass to us about incidents reported to them at Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital.”

It’s been revealed that 450 people have come forward alleging sexual abuse by Savile since October and 57 allegations have been linked to hospital premises, including hospices.

Of the 450, 328 were children when they were allegedly preyed upon and police say 214 criminal offences have been linked to the disgraced presenter across 28 police forces.

Health care organisations at the centre of the Jimmy Savile scandal have described the report into the abuse as “extremely distressing”.

The report states: “At Leeds General Infirmary, Broadmoor Hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital he was taken at face value as a volunteer and fundraiser, probably because of his growing celebrity status.

“Having been accepted at these institutions he gained access to vulnerable children and adults.”

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said every NHS organisation named in the report would be expected to co-operate with the inquiry.

He said: “My first priority is for people who are using the NHS today.

“I want to give them the absolute assurance that we have the right procedures in place to stop this happening again.

“The other big priority ... is that we help victims to achieve closure.

“It is utterly shocking that this happened, and I think all of us feel sick, frankly, that we were eulogising this person who at the same time was conducting this utterly appalling behaviour”.
