AN EXTRA 162 jobs are being created for young people in Calderdale.
The council has secured funding from government’s Future Jobs Fund.
The programme has been designed to help young people whose opportunities have been damaged by the recession.
Jobs will be provided in the environment, childcare, youth work and housing insulation areas.
Clr Amanda Byrne said: “The Future Jobs Fund represents a fantastic opportunity for young people in Calderdale and it will also boost the local economy.”
The project is aimed at 18-24-year-olds who have been out of work for between six and 12 months as well as unemployed over 25-year-olds from areas of high unemployment.
The first jobs are scheduled to start in November.
