A FAST-GROWING Huddersfield firm has announced plans to create 100 jobs.
Fleet management specialist FMG Group said it was on course to recruit the extra staff over the next 12 months after spending £600,000 to expand its headquarters at St Andrew's Road.
FMG, which has 180 employees, moved to the site in 2002 from cramped quarters at Fitzwilliam Street.
At the time, directors expected they would need to create extra space five years later, in 2007.
Instead, FMG Group has completed its 6,000sq ft extension just two years after making the move.
Since transferring to St Andrew's Road, FMG has increased annual turnover by £10m to £30m and increased staff numbers by about a third.
The 6,000sq ft expansion provides ground floor space for extra call centre staff as well as new first floor offices and meeting rooms.
The investment will increase floorspace to 22,000sq ft - creating room for a total of 100 new staff as the group expands.
The project has been funded by NatWest and the Leeds office of Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, which has backed FMG for the past 10 years.
Stephen Pollard, senior client manager at Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, said: "Over the years, we've seen FMG Group grow to be a dominant force in its industry and a valuable contributor to employment in the Huddersfield area.
"We are pleased we have been able to support the company in achieving this and will continue to provided the financial support required for its continued expansion."
Huddersfield architect Heppenstalls was commissioned to design the new extension - having converted the premises for the company when it moved to the site in 2002.
Huddersfield-based Clay Construction was the contractor for the project.
Tim Pickup, FMG Group financial director, said: "We highly value our employees' contributions to the continued success of the company - particularly through the outstanding levels of customer service they provide - and we are committed to providing them with the best possible working environment.
"We are proud to be based in Huddersfield and our newly extended premises will allow us to grow the business even further within the area."
FMG, formed in 1986, is the UK's largest independent provider of fleet management services with customers ranging from owner-managed businesses to blue chip companies.
It provides services including vehicle management and maintenance, commercial vehicle breakdown recovery and vehicle rental.
