JOBS have been secured at a Ravensthorpe factory.

There were fears over the future of the concrete firm, but they have been allayed.

Forticrete – which took over the Newlay plant at Ravensthorpe – has in turn been bought by Denby Dale-based Hargreaves GB Ltd.

Operations director Colin Hughes said: “The plant was going through a bad time and there were some fears that jobs could be lost. But Hargreaves made an offer for the branch and it looks as though the jobs are safe.”

More than 20 people work at the Calder Road site which produces concrete blocks.
