MEMBERS of Elland Round Table want you to run for it – but you must be male.

It’s all for a good cause – for the charitable group is hosting a 5km run in Greenhead Park in aid of Kirkwood Hospice.

The fun run is open to all – from toddlers to pensioners and can be run, walked, jogged or toddled.

Nigel Watson from Elland Round Table said: “We’re an Elland group but we have members from Huddersfield and we held a few runs at Greenhead Park which we first started in 2006.

“We took a bit of a break for a few years but we’re back and hope to get as many men to join us.”

The men-only fun run is just 5km around the perimeter of the park and it is raising funds for Kirkwood Hospice’s Capital Appeal.

Nigel added: “The hospice needs to raise more than £3m for their Capital Appeal and we want to do whatever we can to help it’s such a worthwhile cause.

“The idea is to get men of all ages running for charity and through sponsorship raise as much for the hospice as we can.”

The fun run takes place at Greenhead Park on Sunday, September 23. A warm-up takes place at 10.45am and the run begins at 11am.

It is open to men, boys and even toddlers of all ages and registration is £10 for over 16s, £5 for five-15-year-olds and its free for toddlers aged up to four.

Elland Round Table has helped to raise £25,000 for charity through previous fun runs.

All sponsorship money raised in 2012 is in aid of Kirkwood Hospice.
