A MAN was going on trial today charged with killing a young Huddersfield woman.

Eton Brewins, 26, of Shepley, has pleaded not guilty to the man- slaughter of former Huddersfield University student Jolene Potter- Connolly.

Jolene, 23, died after an incident in a leisure complex car park last year.

Miss Potter-Connolly, who was planning to marry her American fiancé, Jon Eichner, suffered fatal injuries when she was dragged along by a car outside the Folly Hall leisure complex in St Thomas'Road, Huddersfield.

The trial at Leeds Crown Court is expected to last about two weeks.

Miss Potter-Connolly gained an upper second class honours business studies degree from Huddersfield University last year.

She had spent two years of her course abroad, including Sweden and the United States.

She met her fiancé, 30-year-old Jon Eichner, in America.

She lived in Cowlersley with her mother, Marcia, stepfather, Mark, sister Tonya and brothers Kyle and Reece. The family had only recently moved to Cowlersley, having spent many years in Almondbury.

Jolene went to Almondbury Junior School and Almondbury High School before switching to Honley High School.

She later studied at Huddersfield Technical College before taking up a course at the University.
