Church officials are celebrating the end of a ten-year journey.
When the roof of Holmfirth Methodist Church began to crumble church leaders decided to throw caution to the wind.
Instead of just patching it up they hatched a plan to complete a £280,000 revamp of the non-worship part of the building.
Now, after years of fundraising and a five-month long building project, the work is finally complete.
Peter Beetlestone said they now had one of the best community facilities in the area.
He said: “The roof needed work doing but we thought if we’re going to repair that let’s go for it and do more than just that.
“It’s a major redevelopment of the community part of the church.
“We’ve now got a larger area which can be used for meetings and parties and four other rooms for hire.”
The Market Street church plans to celebrate the launch with a weekend of events in October.
Saturday, October 26 will see a concert and an open day and re-dedication service will be held the following day.
