CHARITABLE Town fans raised a stunning £¼m last year, it was revealed today.

And their efforts mean a massive boost not only to the club’s Academy but also to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Fundraising efforts including the ‘Pedal For Pounds’ ride to Brighton meant £251,514 was raised last season in the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign.

And over the past two years, generous fundraisers have contributed a total of £371,683.

Half goes to the Academy, to help bring on young talented players, while the other half helps keep Yorkshire’s Air Ambulance in the air.

More events are planned – with another ‘Pedal for Pounds’ bike ride likely this season.

Some 170 fans, led by Town owner Dean Hoyle, cycled to Brighton for the last game of the regular season to raise a large chunk of the total.

Town’s commercial director Sean Jarvis said: “For ‘Keep it Up’ to have raised over a quarter of a million pounds this year alone is a testament to the character and generous nature of our fans.

“On behalf of the club, I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to anyone who has supported the campaign, be it by sponsoring a cyclist, recycling their clothes in a KIU bank or by displaying a white rose on their car – it has all contributed to this phenomenal total.”

He added: “This season, we are hoping to build upon the amount raised for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign so far.

“There will be loads of different ways of getting involved with the campaign”.
