CHILDREN got creative to improve their local park.
The youngsters, from Stile Common Infant School were challenged to come up with some colourful wildlife artwork for the project to create a decorative archway.
The children’s designs were then incorporated into the steel structure, which was unveiled at the park.
Their imaginative artwork is now on a display in an exhibition at Huddersfield Children’s Library and has been included in a leaflet to promote the park as a natural area for local people to enjoy.
The archway forms part of a project to improve the park’s green space.
Other improvements include new seating, picnic tables and the creation of a short circular footpath.
Funding for the project, pioneered by Newsome Action Group, has been provided by Huddersfield South Area Committee.
Environmental Alliance ran the wildlife workshops with the children and oversaw the work.
