THREE Brighouse High School pupils have received a Parliament prize.

Raeesa Moghul, 14, Paul Willis, 15, and Philip Bottomley, 15, visited the UK Government headquarters after winning a competition to design logos for a new ‘Mobility 21’ project.

The project is a joint venture between the Royal National Institute for the Blind and the University of London.

The venture aims to develop a new qualification for staff who work with visually impaired children - like Paul, Philip and Raeesa themselves.

The three were invited to a day tour of the Houses of Parliament, where they received their prizes from RNIB Chairman Lord Low of Dalston.

Raeesa won the main prize of an MP3 player, while Paul and Philip were presented with £50 each.

The young people, all from Halifax, were joined by Nancy Smith and Andrea Boyle from Calderdale Council’s Visual Impairment Team, and Sue Mort, Extended Schools Coordinator for the Lower Valley Schools.

They celebrated their win with a bun and a hot drink at the House of Lords tea room.
