CARING schoolkids helped children in Africa when they supported World Water Day.

The pupils at St Joseph's RC Primary School, Hove Edge, Brighouse, rallied round to help raise cash to create clean water supplies.

They gave cash donations after their school was supplied with 300 samples of One, bottled water from Ellesmere Port-based distributors Aqueous Wholesale.

The money given by the youngsters goes to PlayPumps International, a charity providing a supply of running water for villages in Africa.

The charity installs a roundabout above a pump and water is brought to the surface through the spinning movement created by children playing on it.

The PlayPump is capable of producing 1,400 litres of water per hour and is effective up to a depth of 320ft.
