KILLER Gavin Sartain was this morning sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend Michelle Suttle.
The 31-year-old was told he will serve a minimum of 12 years before being considered for release.
The court heard yesterday that Sartain stabbed Ms Suttle 39 times after a night drinking at the home the shared on Baker Street at Oakes in June.
Det Supt Sukhbir Singh, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "On the 9 June Gavin Sartain murdered Michelle Suttle in a violent attack, stabbing her repeatedly.
"He did at least do the right thing by pleading guilty to Michelle's murder, therefore sparing the Suttle family the distress and anxiety of a full trial.
"He will now have ample time to reflect on what he has done."
