A MAN who shot dead a traffic policeman could be taken back to court to repay £23,000 it is alleged he falsely claimed in benefits.

The Department for Work and Pensions wants to win back the money it says David Bieber - now serving life for murder and attempted murder - received in income support and housing and council tax benefit.

It is believed Bieber, who murdered Pc Ian Broadhurst in Leeds, on Boxing Day 2003, claimed three years' worth of benefits while working.
