KIND Liz Lumb, of Slaithwaite, held a barbecue in her garden to raise cash for a young friend with cerebral palsy.

Ms Lumb is raising cash to send Poppy Taylor-Jones, five, of Bury, Lancashire, to the USA for a £32,000 nerve transplant which will enable her to walk. Poppy, the granddaughter of Ms Lumb’s friend, is unable to walk without a frame. Ms Lumb said: “She’s a lovely little girl and she tries to do everything every other five-year-old does. Mentally she’s fine. She has no trouble learning, but she can’t really walk.”
