INSPIRATIONAL speaker Richard McCann led workshops at an Almondbury school.

Richard, the son of murdered Leeds Ripper victim Wilma McCann gave a presentation to students at King James’s School about his experiences.

His talk was one of a series of events being organised at the school as part of its Aim Higher initiatives organised by co-ordinator Jacqui Armitage.

Aim Higher is a Government-backed project which aims to attract students into higher education, who may not have traditionally considered the option particularly those from disadvantaged and African Caribbean backgrounds.

The school has also welcomed students from Huddersfield University to work with groups of year 10 students about university life including courses, accommodation and the social benefits.Year eight students also took part in Aim Higher workshops at the university as part of their citizenship studies.
