FARTOWN community worker Kiran Bali has a new voluntary role – championing environmental issues.
Ms Bali (pictured) has been appointed a ‘community champion’ by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The role means she must spread awareness about preserving the environment.
She visits groups and organisations across Kirklees and explains the everyday things they can do to help save the planet.
She said: “It is all about empowering people to make a difference and helping them understand how small things they do each day can help preserve the environment.”
Ms Bali has organised an awareness session on July 20 at the Hindu Temple on Zetland Street. The session will run from 1pm to 2pm and will cover topics including saving energy, eco-friendly travel, ethical shopping, saving resources and caring for the environment locally.
