COMMUNITY groups have been boosted by dozens of small grants from their local councillors.
Kirkburton Parish Council has dished out grants totalling £14,142 to 55 community and sports organisations across its parish.
The grants, which are for a maximum of £250, cover a whole range of ages and interests from annual trips for the WI, to new toys and sports equipment.
Music groups also benefitted and a community building was given cash for new soft furnishings.
Clr Robert Barraclough, Chairman of the Parish Council, said, “There are so many groups in the area, all contributing in widely differing ways to the wellbeing of their communities and it’s very pleasing that the Parish Council is involved in supporting them at grassroots level.”
