TWO councils are in talks with the Post Office to see if they can work together.

Both Kirklees and Calderdale councils are exploring how they join forces to “mutually benefit” each other.

Talks are at an early stage and a Post Office spokesperson said: “We are looking to develop partnerships with local councils and are in initial talks on how we could work together.”

She confirmed the Post Office were in talks with both local authorities.

Calderdale Council’s Communities Scrutiny Panel is exploring the idea and a report says they will investigate “areas where this council and its’ partners could work more closely with the Post Office network for the mutual benefit of all concerned”.
