PEOPLE are being encouraged to see ‘the true face of carers’ during National Carers Week next month.
The event runs nationally between June 13 and 19 and Kirklees Council Carers Gateway are inviting people to find out more about what they do.
Drop-in events have been organised on Wednesday, June 15, between 10am and 2pm in Dewsbury town centre near the town hall and also on Friday, June 17, between 10am and 2pm at Gateway to Care, 30 Market Street, Huddersfield.
The drop-in events will include advice, information and support from many services including benefit advice. Carers support officers will also be available to give advice and there will be an opportunity to meet Gateway workers, health trainers, members of the Alzheimer’s Society, representatives from Crossroads and the Expert Patients Programme.
Clr Molly Walton, Kirklees Council cabinet member for adult services, said: “Caring for a loved one can be very rewarding, but at times it can be challenging and frustrating by not having the right support or information.
“At the events we want to hear about your experiences of caring, which we will put into our ‘True Face of Caring’ box.
