They provided a real journey down Memory Lane.

Historic trucks provided an eye-catching display for youngsters attending a college open day in Huddersfield.

Vehicles dating from the 1930s to the present day were among those on show at the event held at Kirklees College’s engineering centre on Turnbridge Road, Huddersfield.

Opened in August 2012, the college’s specialist Engineering Centre offers lessons to hundreds of students.

They attend courses in a series of facilities including maintenance and fabrication workshops, CNC and mechanical workshops, demonstration areas, classrooms, a rolling road and spray booths.

Several local firms attended the open day, which gave students an insight into the engineering, motor vehicle and process manufacturing courses available at the college.

Companies outlining training opportunities included Reliance Precision, of Lepton; electrical engineering firm Engenda, of Elland; and Arkoni Metalwork, of Brighouse.

Several of the vehicles, including a lorry-mounted crane and a cement mixer, were provided by Huddersfield-based Myers Group and included a number from the private collection of group chairman John Myers.
