ONE of Huddersfield’s oldest colleges will be celebrated in an exhibition.
Kirklees College is looking for photos, artwork, prospectuses, memorabilia, awards and press cuttings from its predecessor Huddersfield Technical College.
Kirklees College, which took over in 2008, will stage Reflection, an exhibition about the former college this summer at a town centre venue which is yet to be announced.
The event coincides with Kirklees College’s move from the former Huddersfield Technical College campus – once the town’s infirmary – at New North Road.
The Technical College’s origins date back to the Huddersfield Mechanics’ Institution which was founded in 1844. It became the Technical College in 1896.
Exhibits for loan should be marked with the owner’s details and for the attention of Andrew Norfolk, Learning Resource Centre, Huddersfield and dropped off at the receptions of Kirklees College’s Huddersfield or Dewsbury campuses.
