THE creative talents of Kirklees College students will be in the frame at a special event.

Create 2010 is being staged by the college’s Creative Industries department this month and aims to showcase some of the region’s best creative talent.

It is a joint venture between Kirklees College’s Highfields Centre in Huddersfield and Wheelwright Centre in Dewsbury, also known as Batley School of Art and Design.

This is the first time the two centres have run simultaneous end of year shows since the merger of Huddersfield Technical College and Dewsbury College to form Kirklees College in 2008.

Karen Matula, subject sector leader for creative industries, said: “We are confident that this event will be one of the greatest student-led events in Yorkshire.”

The shows will include art and design exhibitions and live performances from music and performing arts students.

Both centres will have VIP viewings before the shows open to the public.

The Highfields Centre will be open from June 17, 10am to 4pm while the Wheelwright Centre will open to the public on June 18.
