KIRKLEES College claims its sponsorship deal with Huddersfield Town is a major boost.

Here it answers some key questions.

Why Huddersfield Town?

In 2010/11, we have volunteered a reduction in the marketing budget. The money we would normally spend on advertising, we want to move to spend within the community. This partnership will boost current students, staff and local schools. No college has ever done this before. This partnership represents a more efficient use of public money, with incredible national exposure together with hitting our core objectives, whilst also raising the profile of ‘Kirklees’ as an area.

Is it “more than a shirt”?

The shirt is about 10% of the reason we are going ahead with this partnership because of the coverage it brings us. We plan to use the facilities during the year for our students for meetings and for employers. The cost of hiring external facilities is very expensive, and we anticipate the college will save around £60,000 in costs. This partnership will also allow us to build our relationships with schools through football. This will attract a new market of pupils into further education who have not been involved before using the existing channels already established by HTAFC and through developing new ones together.

We will get tickets for every home game this season, so students and staff can expect opportunities in the future. We plan to give students who perform well tickets for the games.

What will the partnership consist of? Over 30 exciting activities and branding opportunities have been agreed as part of the partnership. Some of them include: Work placements, opportunities for music and performing arts students to appear at the Stadium, a competition to design joint merchandise which will be sold in the club shops with an agreed percentage of sales given to Kirklees College Students’ Union and a student match report competition throughout the season, featuring in HTFC’s match day magazine.

The college will have its own corporate box, with a capacity of 10 guests. This box will be available exclusively to the college on match days and non-match days.

What’s the visible presence?

In addition to the home shirts, Kirklees College adverts and branding will appear across the Stadium, in the matchday magazines, on the club website and on stationery.

Any other benefits?

The college will not pay for any room hire at the Stadium.

What else will the college be supporting?

Huddersfield Town is just the start.

We want to build links across Kirklees in order to embed the college into the community.

We want to attract businesses and learners, to provide valuable funding, to maintain and improve quality courses and services for the community.
