It was a wash of bows and brushes at Kirklees College’s Taylor Hill Centre, as students brushed up on their dog grooming skills.
Those studying levels 2 and 3 Animal Care spent a day clipping, brushing and pampering lucky pooches for a competition.
The contest was the first, but such was its success staff now plan to make it an annual occurrence.
The winners from level 2 were Jodie Pollard, Saira Hussain, Morna Glew, Carol England, Rebecca Potts and Kay Wright.
They were judged by grooming aficionados Lyndsey Whitwam from Pennine Grooming and Heather Howes.
Level 3 students Fran Cioffi, Kim Reilly, Hannah Haigh, Stephanie Hanson, Louise Taylor and Paula Collier were also named winners.
Dog groomer Lyndsey said: “The level was amazing! It made our jobs as judges very difficult.
“Congratulations to the winners and well done to the tutorsfor teaching such a high level in such a short space of time.”
Prizes were handed out by the event sponsor Simon Cheung from Redcape Grooming Supplies, while all students who took part received a certificate and goody bag from Redcape.
