A £1.9m cash boost could be on its way to Kirklees Council with the sale of unused land and buildings.

Nine lots are going under the hammer and they include a major development site in Mirfield plus a number of defunct public toilets.

The site with the biggest price tag at £1m is the Westfields site in Westfields Road, Mirfield. Westfields was a former children’s home and the land now has planning permission for 11 large detached houses.

Also up for auction is the Cemetery Lodge on Blacker Road, Birkby, which is a stone-built former groundman’s house which is listed for sale for £95,000 to £105,000.

Four former public toilets are also listed for sale. These are: Slaithwaite (£30,000-£40,000), Birstall (£20,000-£30,000), Honley (£10,000-£15,000) and Milnsbridge (£5,000-£10,000).

The former Denby Dale Nursery School is to be sold with a guide price of £225,000 to £275,000.

And two plots of land in Batley, one at Healey Lane for £35,000-£400,000 and the other at Battye Street for £20,000-£30,000.

The auction takes place on Thursday, February 26 at 7pm at The Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top.

Kirklees Council raised more than £1.8m from selling unused assets at auction last year.
