WALKERS can welcome in winter next weekend.

Kirklees Council has organised a six-mile hike to celebrate the Celtic festival of Samhain – or summer’s end – which marks the beginning of winter.

The walk starts at Castle Hill at 11am next Sunday. The three-hour trek is moderately difficult and includes rough terrain and slopes.

The Samhain Walk is free but booking is essential by calling Julian Brown on 07968 426312. No dogs are allowed, except assistance dogs. Walkers should meet in the car park on top of Castle Hill.
