RESIDENTS have failed in a bid to get speed bumps and speed cameras installed on their road.

Fifteen householders on Lockwood Scar signed a petition to Kirklees Council asking for traffic-calming measures on the 30mph road.

But Kirklees officers recommended refusing the request. They said Lockwood Scar was too steep for speed bumps and that the three injuries on the road since 2004 were not enough to justify speed cameras.

The Cabinet yesterday agreed with officers and knocked back the residents’ request.
