KIRKLEES Streetscene staff got into the World Cup mood and raised £500 for the Mayor’s charity appeal.

The service’s Charity Team put on a variety of events including a ‘world buffet’, raffles, ‘dress down for a pound’, a ‘spot the ball’ competition, ‘name the three lions’ and a table football challenge.

The money raised went to the Mayor’s Charity which this year is ‘Combat Stress’ whichŠ specialises in the care of military veterans who have suffered a range of psychological injuries as a result of their service.

The highlight of the Friday event was a five-a-side football tournament, with 30 goals, two yellow cards and one sending off – all in good fun.

Four teams entered the tournament: Honley Depot, Highway Safety, Street Lighting and the ‘All Stars’ with Honley Depot beating Highway Safety 4-1 in the final.
