MORE than 300 firms in Kirklees have been given more time to pay their taxes under a scheme to help companies keep the cash flowing.
Some 326 businesses in the district have agreed Time to Pay tax arrangements with HM Revenues and Customs for sums totalling £4.4m.
Across Yorkshire, more than 4,800 companies have made similar arrangements for tax totalling £82.4m.
The scheme run by the Government’s Business Payment Support Service allows companies to pay all their HMRC taxes, including PAYE, National Insurance and VAT, through payment timetables they can afford.
The Time to Pay scheme was launched by Chancellor Alistair Darling last November to help firms facing cash problems.
In most cases, firms contacting HMRC to ask for a delay get a decision within 10 minutes.
