HEALTH staff in Kirklees take more time off due to illness than those in the neighbouring primary care trust.

In January this year only 2.99% of NHS Kirklees staff recorded taking absence, however by March it had shot up to 4.59% of staff – which is more than average across Yorkshire.

However at Calderdale PCT in January, 2.19% of staff called in sick which decreased to 1.83% by March.

Across all strategic health authorities, the agency in charge of care for each geographic region of the UK, staff in Yorkshire and the Humber took the third highest amount of time off due to sickness – preceded only by North East and North West SHAs.

Staff at the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust took less time off than average.

Across Yorkshire, more staff call in sick between October to December than any other time in the year.
