KIRKLEES Council and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing are teaming up with West Yorkshire Trading Standards to provide a community education programme on money management and budgeting skills.

The scheme, funded by the Skills Funding Agency, will target Kirklees housing tenants with a number of workshops called financial fitness. Residents in Kirklees will have the opportunity to engage in the creative and engaging workshops between now and the end of July 2013.

Graham Hebblethwaite, chief officer of West Yorkshire Trading Standards, said: “As well as improving financial capability during innovative workshops, participants also have the opportunity to come together and develop important life skills such as confidence, team work, problem solving, leadership and communication.”

Verity Hancock, Skills Funding Agency executive director, Capacity and Infastructure, said: “The response to the new Community Learning Innovation Fund has been phenomenal and we are pleased to support these innovative projects.”
